Van Gogh's Spring Obsession
The guy who just spent months staring at city fog and factory chimneys suddenly has massive green fields and blooming trees in front of him. When Van Gogh got to Arles in 1888 he was obsessed. He wrote to his brother Theo that he was working like a madman because the trees were in flower and he was racing against time before the petals fell. Look at how the town of Arles is just sitting way back there in the distance. He completely pushes it aside to focus on the wild energy of the trees right in front of him. That urgency is all over this painting. 🎨 EcoArtLab — Frame TV & Printable Ar
