Pissarro: A Garden Worth Painting

This vegetable and fruit village garden in rural Pontoise had everything to catch Pissarro's eye. The main reason being it was right next to his door. A kitchen garden, a neighbor working inside, those were reasons number 2 and 3. It was useful, it was made by and for actual people. This ranked very high on Pissarro's quality scale.
