Most painters avoided winter. Too cold. Too gray. Too hard to sell. Pissarro walked out anyway. He lived in Eragny for the last twenty years of his life and painted every season like it mattered equally. Look at that sky. It is not white. It is yellow and blue and purple all fighting each other. And that lone figure on the road with a horse. Just someone getting through the day. Pissarro always noticed the people nobody else painted.
